Well my first BCYF experience was OK. I suppose everything would have been great if I had not been sick, but me getting sick was related to BCYF. In preparation for the big Supertones concert Friday night. We put strobe lights in the headlights of an Explorer and added neon lights underneath it. The owner was going to make a big mural in honor of the Supertones on this truck and another. So he needed it washed. So he sent me to do it at about 12:00 am Friday morning. Then I washed the other one at about 3:00 am. So I think washing these trucks that early in the morning and being as it was 50 degrees outside may have had something to do with my cold.
Friday night was fun except for the smoke on stage which made my irritated throat worse and the fact that it was rainy and cold during the big blow-up games (OK that kind of makes it sound horrible but it got better). Saturday morning was when were suppose to dress up renaissance style. I was to be a peasant. I got up and got ready, all the while I could not stop coughing. Once I got some fresh air and walked to the DFAB I had stopped coughing. I attended the first worship service of the day. Unfortunately the coughing persisted once I sat down and I had to leave. The coughing was so much that it made me sick so I decided to lose the costume for comfort sake (uh... I promise it gets better). I went back to the auditorium after I had changed and waited until my workshop started at 11:00 am. I went to my workshop and only two people signed up, but it was ok because they were willing to give their input (My workshop was a devotional by the way). After my workshop and lunch I watched some of the guys launch produce from a trebuchet (catapult). It was a lot of fun. My second workshop session was a little better because there were five people in it. I then took a nap, after which I felt much better. I then attended a portion of the Renaissance concert. I had to leave early to set my VCR to record the game. I got back into costume for about an hour for the renaissance feast held in honor of the king and queen. I ate part of a ginormous turkey leg and and corn on the cob (No utensils at this meal). After the dinner I was able to change and catch the score of the game before I had to leave to round up kids for worship (It was killing me that I wasn't watching the end of the game, but luckily Cathy, who was in town for the weekend, had watched the end to tell me the score). The final worship service was good and afterward I was assigned to help clean DFAB, which didn't take long at all. So most things went well and it made my weekend that the Illini won (See I told you it got better).
