It's Been One of Those Weeks

I know, I know. It's only Tuesday, but it was a really bad Monday. Most of you know about my probation semester for my scholarship. Well wires got crossed at Bethel and I was misinformed (What a surprise).

The woman I talked to in the financial aid office told me that when I came back in the fall I would be on probation, but yesterday I received a notice in the mail that if I wanted to keep my scholarship I would have to take summer classes to bring up my GPA. So my first question is can I take classes at my local college and transfer their credits? The reply I get: Let me transfer you to the registrar's office. Again I ask the same question with reply: Let me transfer you to the academic dean's office. Well the academic dean wants to transfer me to the financial aid office. But before she can do so I say, "Wait! I started out there and I ended up with you. So she says, "Let me talk to them and then someone will call you back." Needless to say I was perturbed. I wasted an hour on my cell phone talking to no one. Finally I get a call back. I'm not even sure who I was talking to. This person gave me this big long explanation which was basically saying, "Yeah, you can do that." So then I thought this isn't so bad. I talked to the hiring department at Airtex and they seemed confident. I can take classes in the morning and work at night.

I wasn't off the phone with Bethel for five minutes when I get a call. "Bethany?" the voice on the end of the line says, "I'm just calling to tell you that unless things change drastically Airtex will probably not be hiring summer help."

Thank you Airtex, once again, you have ruined my life.

So I decide that I need to find out what classes will transfer before I go take them. So I went through Frontier's summer schedule and found classes that I thought would match classes offered at Bethel. Luckily I found out most of the classes transferred. So now I have to go register.

Still looking for work though. I'm so glad Fairfield has such plentiful opportunities of summer jobs for full time students.

I'm sorry you had such a crappy day! I hate it when stuff like that happens. Here's a few suggestions...which I'm sure you're just dying for...General Tire in Mt. Vernon, Bristol-Myers Squibb in Mt. Vernon, Indiana....only about 35 miles away, Champion in Albion or West Salem, NAL in Flora. I would personally try out General Tire or Bristol first, 'cause I'm positive they pay the most money...Also, Kari from Bible study works for a temp agency in Mt. Vernon, IL, and they have contracts with a lot of big factories!!

Hope some of this helps! See you tonight!
