Urban Spelunking

So I've been meaning to blog about this for a while but, I've also been a little distracted lately. Last weekend I joined 6 friends in the exciting event of urban spelunking. For those of you who don't know what urban spelunking is: spelunking is cave exploration, urban spelunking is exploring caves in the city. Since you don't find too many caves in the city we used the next best thing. The drainage system. We went to Jackson where we went down into one of the ditches near Union University. We walked into one of the large pipes and followed it under a shopping center and the highway. We came out at another place and walked a little ways to another, through which we returned to where we started. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards we all went to IHOP in our wet, dirty clothes. A good time was had by all.

Do you know what drains in drainage ditches?? They have big urban sewers. I'm sure the people at IHOP were thrilled with your presence. :) There are no clothes too shabby or smelly for an IHOP though. They will gladly make you chocolate chip pancakes and give you chocolate syrup to put on them if you ask!!! YUM!

this is not the sewer. this rain runoff drainage. water with dirt rocks your occasional cinder block. actually we ran into a plastic slide from a swing set. i'm not sure how that got down there.
