I Love You Jesus Because...

Last night at CCC was great. We had a Picnic theme. We had watermelon, sandwiches, tea, and even a seed spitting contest. But, while that was all well and fun, the great part was about what we heard.

The West Tennessee, Director of Campus Crusade for Christ, Brian McCurry, was our speaker. He talked to us about sharing a beautiful Christ. He asked us what we thought was beautiful about our relationship with Jesus Christ. The answers ranged from His forgiveness to His willingness to die on the cross for us. We broke up into small groups and discussed how we could make the subtext of our movement a beautiful Christ. We decided that prayer was one of our best options, but in the process we also realized how selfishly thankful we can be. My friend Jami made the comment that sometimes we get so wrapped up in thanking God for what He's given us that we forget the most important part. We spend too much time thinking about what He does rather than who He is. We should pray whole heartedly and earnestly that God would more than just a presence in our lives that gives us things.

Jami has a really deep and sincere faith, and that's what I like about her most. This one thing she said kind of summed the whole thing up. "If your only going to love someone for what they give, what kind of relationship is that?"

We finished the evening with an open prayer. We were presented with a time to tell Jesus exactly why we loved Him. Brian encouraged people to just say aloud "Jesus I love You because..." It was amazing just listening to everyone tell Jesus why they loved Him. I felt the spirit move.

I felt like everyone there got something out of it. I know I did. I realized how little I really considered the beauty of my relationship with Christ. He died on the cross for me. He loves me. He forgives and forgets. He will never leave me.

I love You Jesus because You will never give up on me.
