So I just wanted to take an opportunity to tell you about some of the amazing things God is doing.
So I guess I'll start at the beginning. First of all we are starting a ministry in McKenzie called SALT. I may have mentioned this before, but It's been going really great. We went out into the community today and did surveys to find out what the needs of the community are so that we can address those needs. Our most recent development is the Love Kitchen. We're opening this soup kitchen one evening a week in the basement of the Presbyterian USA Church. We want to provide for their physical need of food, but we also want to provide for their emotional and spiritual needs as well. Through the Love Kitchen we will be able to do this.
Recently we came in contact with a homeless man in McKenzie. His name is Terry. Two years ago his house burned down and he has been homeless ever since. He has heart problems and is in and out of the hospital a lot. He can't get a job because he can't stay cleaned up while living outside. So we talked to some local churches and we have made a one year commitment with him. The churches are willing to house him for a year so he can get a job and get back on his feet. Terry is a Christian and he wants to help us help others. So please keep him in your prayers.
Personally God has been doing a lot for me. Wednesday evening I put down a $50 deposit on my spring break trip to Chicago not knowing if I would be able to come up with the other $100. Today I checked my mail and I had received a card from an old friend and $75 check for no other reason than she was thinking of me. Praise God. The only thing I have left to pay is for lunch everyday. God does some crazy stuff.
Please keep Campus Crusade for Christ as well as SALT in your prayers. Big things are happening.

so, seriously awesome what you guys are doing....you definitly need to read "The Irresistable Revolution" by Shane Claiborne becuase he does alot of ministry stuff similar to waht it looks like SALT is doing....what does SALT stand for by the way....
awesomeness guys...seriously
Well, actually SALT stands for the reference in Matthew.
"You are the salt of the earth, but what good is the salt if it has lost it's flavor? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled on underfoot."
Our Mission Statement:
"Salt is a community ministry geared toward sharing and showing the love of Jesus Christ. We are driven by the people in our community and want to help out those in McKenzie and also reach out to our surrounding communities."
Basically what we're trying to do is SHOW people the love of Christ. Friday I met a guy who had been told to leave two churches when he told them he was agnostic. I appologized for the way he had been treated and told him about what we were doing. He's so excited about the fact that we're helping the community. He's actually going to come help us serve food at the Love Kitchen, so hopefully I'll have a chance to talk to him some more.
Sounds awesome.
truly amazing
